Worldbuilding & Digital Spaces
Artist and researcher Sondi explores how digital spaces, video games, and virtual worlds shape the way we imagine, experience, and interact with alternative realities. Through her practice of worldbuilding, she examines how technology can reproduce existing power structures, biases, and inequalities, while also opening possibilities for more inclusive and imaginative futures. Combining immersive environments, storytelling, and critical experimentation, Sondi challenges conventional narratives and invites us to rethink digital worlds as spaces for creativity, resistance, and collective imagination.
This talk took place during Dutch Design Week 2026 in Eindhoven, as part of the Next Gen Design Edu Talks series organized by WDCD. Next Gen Design is a three-year initiative promoting green and sustainable design within the European design sector, especially among young designers, supporting the European Green Deal. The program involves collaborations between five key design platforms and festivals: Skopje Design Week (Public Room), Mikser Festival from Belgrade (Mikser), designaustria, What Design Can Do from Amsterdam, and Barcelona Design Week (Barcelona Creativity & Design Foundation), with support from the European Commission.
