Bridging circularity and inclusion through repair
Edu Talk: Bridging circularity and inclusion through repair is the talk by Thami Schweichler. Schweichler is a social designer, entrepreneur, and impact leader based in Amsterdam. He is the founder of United Repair Centre, a B2B clothing repair service for global brands that creates jobs for people facing labour market barriers. Previously, Thami has co-founded Makers Unite, a social enterprise promoting refugee inclusion through creative collaboration and sustainable design, an approach that won the What Design Can Do Refugee Challenge in 2016. His work bridges circularity, entrepreneurship, and inclusion to drive systemic change in the clothing industry.
This Edu Talk, part of the 2025 What Design Can Do (WDCD) in Amsterdam, is featured in the Next Gen Design Edu Talks series. Next Gen Design is a three-year initiative promoting green and sustainable design within the European design sector, especially among young designers, supporting the European Green Deal. The program involves collaborations between five key design platforms and festivals: Skopje Design Week (Public Room), Mikser Festival from Belgrade (Mikser), designaustria, What Design Can Do from Amsterdam, and Barcelona Design Week (Barcelona Creativity & Design Foundation), with support from the European Commission.
