Design as an Enabler of Hope: The Curious Case of Ecosystem Restoration
Edu Talk: Design as an Enabler of Hope: The Curious Case of Ecosystem Restoration is a lecture by Fabio Palma, Strategic Partnerships Director at the global foundation Plant for the Planet. During his lecture he emphasised the importance of ecosystems and cross-collaboration among the different stakeholders to boost sustainability practices and promote design thinking mindset as a tool for innovation, in a VUCA (Volatile, Uncertain, Complex and Ambiguous) context; design as the meeting point of many disciplines and of the needs and expectations of all stakeholders; and the power of design to restore or redesign existing ecosystems, redefining people’s daily interactions and influencing the quality of their life experience.
This Edu Talk, part of the 2024 Barcelona Design Week, is featured in the Next Gen Design Edu Talks series. Next Gen Design is a three-year initiative promoting green and sustainable design within the European design sector, especially among young designers, supporting the European Green Deal. The program involves collaborations between five key design platforms and festivals: Skopje Design Week (Public Room), Mikser Festival from Belgrade (Mikser), designaustria, What Design Can Do from Amsterdam, and Barcelona Design Week (Barcelona Creativity & Design Foundation), with support from the European Commission.
