Next Generation Design: Barbara Weingartshofer about Women in the Design Profession
Barbara Weingartshofer, information designer and former member of the board of designaustria, initiated statistical research on female designers, especially in regard of the gender pay gap. In her impulse talk on 20 September 2024 at designforum Wien during the Event »Next Gen Design: Women creating the Future of Design«, she introduces number facts and figures to point out why it is important, especially among women, to talk about pricing and salaries in order to become the gender pay gap.
Barbara Weingartshofer was live on stage during designaustria / designforum 2024 in Vienna as part of by Next Gen Design Edu Talks. Next Gen Design is a three-year initiative promoting green and sustainable design within the European design sector, especially among young designers, supporting the European Green Deal. The program involves collaborations between five key design platforms and festivals: Skopje Design Week (Public Room), Mikser Festival from Belgrade (Mikser), designaustria, What Design Can Do from Amsterdam, and Barcelona Design Week (Barcelona Design Center), with support from the European Commission.
